This is an original pastel called Lilacs, a simple study of a pitcher of lilac blossoms next to a window. Violet is one of my favorite colors to use - it has so much versatility and it adds so much to the color relationships. Rather than being a traditional image with values of white to black, this is a pastel based on color relationships as well as light. Most of the strokes run in the same direction, which helps to unify the image. Color is one of the most important things for me in my work. This pastel is professionally matted with a light neutral matte and matching plain wooden frame.
