This is an original pastel called Pocopson Field, and is a study of a local scene in rural Pennsylvania. The style for this drawing is fairly expressionistic, and the individual strokes show pretty clearly. I like the simple forms and fields of color in it. To me it feels like a breeze is blowing the wildflowers and tall grasses around; the different directions of the strokes zigzag through the pastel, forming directional movements in the composition. This pastel is matted with a dark olive green suede-like matte, with a black plain wood frame.
